Fish Fry Saturday! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, the Hawley Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting their 7th Annual Benefit Fish Fry. The meal will begin at 4:30 PM and will continue until 7 PM. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a great meal and fellowship. The menu includes: deep fried catfish, hush puppies, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans and dessert; for the non-fish lovers, chicken strips will be available upon request. Donations will be accepted at the door and all funds will be used to support the ongoing work of the HFD.


Currently the department has 19 members. Five are nationally certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), six are First Responders, three are Firefighter I certified, three members are certified in Basic Critical Incident Stress Management and one member is certified in both Advance Critical Incident Stress Management and Peer Support. Members of the Hawley Fire Department are: Chief Robert Moore, Assistant Chiefs Jeff Bollman and Steve Clover, Officers Cliff Biby & JJ Green, Chaplain Gary Lillie, and firefighters: Jay Elson, JoAn Clover, John Rayner, Jared Bollman, William Weve, Bob Worth, Kristil Weve, Jeff Worth, Genevieve Riley, Sarah Green, Dennis Sullivan, Ron Philbrick and Julia Matlock. The Hawley Fire Department Auxiliary has 10 members: Billie & Cleo Philbrick, Phil & Lois Clover, Lavay Moore, Debbie Biby, Darlene Snyder, Jamie Briggs and Ginger Hidden. Board members overseeing the Fire Department are: Joe Waggoner, Lynden Reid, Dell Ransom, Ann Bollman, Randy Kraus and Treasurer Tara Neilson.

This year several additions have been made to enhance the Fish Fry. A tent will be erected to enable more people to be seated, two more cookers have been purchased and more fish has been ordered. There will be fish and room for everyone! Parking will be at the church across the road and the Hawley Trolley will transport our guests to the station.

The Hawley Fire Department is located at the old town site of Hawley. It is located 7 miles north of Nash on Hwy. 132 and then 1 mile east or from Hwy. 132 & 11, 4 miles south and 1 east. Yes, the bridge is open! For more information call 839-2480. See you Saturday, April 17!
